Arthur Amos (1933 - 2020) was a founding member of the Ontario Marine Heritage Committee (1976) and was active in the marine history and archaeology of the Great Lakes since 1968. In his middle years, he earned an undergraduate degree in history from York University, Toronto, and was an active diver into his eighties. He initiated many underwater archaeological surveys across Ontario and made a major contribution to the field. In 1973, Arthur purchased Trails End Lodge, Tobermory (the former Marconi Wireless Station), and operated that business until his retirement, when his son and daughter continued the business. Arthur passed away on February 27, 2020 at the age of 86. |
