John was a sailor when enlisted in the First World War on December 1, 1915. He enlisted with the 160th Battalion in Wiarton. John served in France and Belgium. On August 24, 1918, he suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg while in Cambrai, France. John was discharged on March 27, 1919. His younger brother, Morgan Arnold, also served with the 160th Battalion in the First World War. John is buried in Bayview Cemetery in Keppel Township. |
