Daniel Clifford Austin was born on August 11, 1906 in Carlyle, Ontario. In August of 1942, Daniel enlisted with the Lord Strathcona Horse. During the Second World War, he served in Canada, England and Italy. Daniel was discharged from the army in January of 1946. Daniel returned to Chesley and married Merle Henry and both of them owned and operated service stations in Chesley and Noble. Daniel belonged to the Chesley Legion Branch 144 for sixty years. On August 3, 2006, Daniel passed away eight days prior to his 100th birthday. |
