Harvey enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army on July 12, 1941. He served with the 4th Divisional Petrol Company, the Royal Canadian Service Corps, and the 4th Canadian Armed Division overseas. He served in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, France, Belgium, and Holland. He was discharged on March 20, 1946. Henry then farmed with his father in Sullivan Township. He later became a 1st Class Engineer on Great Lakes Steamers. |

Harvey was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defense Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. |
