Listed as one of the partners of the Southampton Bowman & Zinkan tannery in Forgotten Times (Weichel). He is also listed as a tanner on his son's (Cecil Earl) birth certificate in 1890. In 1912 he is listed as a manufacturer in Southampton (Heritage Plaque Program). A.F. Bowman, C.E. Bowman and H. Zinkan also ran a lumbering business according to the 1901 Southampton Minutes and By-Laws.

Places

A.F. Bowman grew up in Woolwich, Waterloo (listed there in the 1881 census with his parents and brother). By 1891, he had moved to Southampton and was living there with his wife, Charlotte, and their children, Elmer Sparling and Cecil. Around 1912, he built a house at 84 Huron Street South. He is buried in the Southampton Cemetery.
