Bob began training for Second World War service at 17 years of age in March 1941 at the Prevost barracks, London. He began serving on the Saguenay in September 1941. After more training, he was drafted to the Boston and spent three months in the English Channel. After D-Day, he went to Niobe Barr, Scotland. He was then drafted to HMCS Hespeler in Leith, Scotland. He was discharged from service on October 23, 1945 and worked in a Post Office. He was involved in many aspects of the Southampton community, including service on the Hospital Board of Governors, St. Paul's Anglican Church, the Masonic Lodge and Legion. |
