On September 18, 1939, Harry enlisted with the army and served with the Canadian Armoured Fighting Vehicle School in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Harry's awards included the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Harry was discharged from service on March 5, 1946 and worked as a Tour Guide at Birch Island on Manitoulin Island. He became the Cabot Head lightkeeper and served in that capacity from1951 until his retirement in 1982. Harry joined the Tobermory Legion Branch 290. On April 6, 1982, Harry passed away in Tobermory. |
