Alex served in the First World War, starting with the 160th Battalion, having enlisted in December 1915. He served on the front lines with the 18th Battalion. He was wounded in the left leg in August 1918 in France, and continued his service until demobilization in January 1919. In the Second World War, he served in the military again, with the Veterans Guard of Canada, enlisgin in August 1940 and serving through to Septemer 1945. |
