As noted in Peter Liesemer's obituary, "By his honesty and his upright manner in all his dealings, he was one of Mildmay's outstanding businessmen, and enjoyed the friendship and respect of all with whom he came in contact." Peter began his career at the age of 14 by working with his father in the Liesemer Hardware Store. Peter was a Charter Member of the Mildmay Rotary Club when it formed in 1943. He was a Past President and Chairman of the Committee for Crippled Children. Peter was involved in local politics and he was Reeve of Mildmay for several years and he was Warden of Bruce County in 1943. He was the secretary-treasurer of the Carrick Agricultural Society for 45 years. Peter was a member of the Walkerton Masonic Lodge and St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church. |
