After training as a nurse, she enlisted in the RCAF in 1943. She trained as a wireless officer in Montreal, then was posted at various bases in Ontario and Eastern Canada, relaying communications between the tower and crews performing bombing training. She also became a teletype operator relaying messages to pilots between Moncton, Halifax, and Pennfield Ridge, New Brunswick, during D-Day preparations. After the war, she worked at Southampton Hospital, Canada Post, and the Bruce County Health Unit. She is a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 in Southampton. |
