In 1845, Robert and Alexander McIntosh packed up their young families and left Inchverry of Tongue, Sutherlandshire, Scotland. They settled in Toronto for seven years. They then moved their families to West Gwillimbury Township, Simcoe County, near Bradford. They stayed for 3 years before taking out Crown land in Carrick township in 1855. Robert took out 200 acres on Lots 51 and 52, Concession C (Elora Road). (Historical Walks through Carrick and Mildmay). |
