Merchant McVittie's store in Southampton was located on High Street (2nd building from Albert St. on N. side) in the same building as what was previously the Belyea Store and later the Golden Crust Shop, Bun King Restaurant and Just Browsing. (Source: "Celebrate Southampton Past & Present") Land records show it was owned by William McVittie from 1913 - 1920. Advertisement in Southampton Beacon February 3, 1916 identifies the store as "Irving McVittie" Irving McVittie was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Choir, Southampton, circa 1922. Mrs. Irving McVittie was President of White School Women's Institute in approximately 1920. Muriel is also listed as a member. |
