B.B. Millar clerked in a store in Durham, then spent a short time in the United States. Upon his return to Canada, he qualified as a schoolteacher and taught for four years in Arran and Elderslie. He was a storekeeper in Paisley and Oxenden. Around 1867, he moved to Wiarton (one of the first settlers there); also the first postmster, a Divisional Court clerk, Indian Lands agent, police magistrate, mayor (1894) and reeve of Wiarton (1890). |
