While residing in Walkerton, Ontario, Fred worked at the Rattan Factory. He was a member of the Walkerton Baptist Church. He enlisted for service in the First World War in September 1915 with the 71st Battalion. He spent his first year overseas in hospital in England, undergoing three operations. He went to France in 1917 and joinhed a labour battallion. He was also a transport driver. Fred took acute neuritis while on duty in October 1917 and died on October 24, 1918 in France. |
