Allan was born and raised in Bruce County and can be found living on his parents farm in Bruce Township on the 1891 Census of Canada. He went to teacher's college outside of Ottawa and then returned to teach school on the 7th Concession Kincardine Township and in Cargill. In 1907 he tok over the furniture and undertaking business in Tiverton. In 1921 he served as the Tiverton Reeve. In 1924 he moved to Walkerton and beame the County Treasurer, and held the position until he retired ca. 1948. He was an ardent sportsman and played baseball in his younger years. Later he took up fishing, lawn bowling and attended local Walkerton hockey games. He is buried in Tiverton Cemetery. |
