Everett Short was a newspaperman for a period of 49 years having joined in the family-owned weekly newspaper, "The Southampton Beacon." Everett became editor of the newspaper in 1933 and sold the business in 1973. He also operated a printing service for some years. Everett was also involved in politics and was a former mayor, reeve (1943-1947) and councillor of Southampton. He was a Rotarian and a member of the Southampton Presbyterian Church. |
