Dr. Williamson was one of the youngest University of Toronto medical school graduates. After graduating, he was an intern at Brantford General Hospital and then briefly practiced in Caistorville, Ontario. Dr. Williamson then practiced for 15 years in Hepworth from 1927 to 1942, before practicing in Wiarton, until his retirement from private practice in 1963. Dr. Williamson joined the Ontario Hospital School (Cedar Springs) staff as a physician for six years and then retired in January 1970 to Orangeville. Despite retiring, for over a year and a half he continued to assist part-time in the emergency ward of the Dufferin area hospital. Dr. Williamson died in the Dufferin area hospital at the age of 73. For almost 20 years, Dr. Williamson was also the North Bruce County Coronor and was a member of the Wiarton area school board in the 1950s. |
