Floyd Wismer enlisted on February 7, 1916 with 160th Bruce Battalion as member of Band. At that time, he listed "tinsmith" as his occupation on his attestation papers. He also served with 47th Battalion and 1st Motor Machine Gun Brigade. According to "Bruce in Khaki, containing a history of the 160th Overseas Bruce Battalion", he suffered a shrapnel wound on Arras-Cambrai Road, September 15, 1918. His diary entry for Sept. 15, 1918 makes no mention of shrapnel, but he writes on August 30, 1918 "was hit but not serious on cambria road." At the time of his marriage in 1920, he was working as a plumber in Brantford, Ontario. According to the book "Bruce in Khaki containing a history of the 160th Overseas Bruce Battalion and complete nominal roll of all men who were at any time on the strength of the Battalion" by 1934 (the date of that book's publication), he was working in Palmerston, Ontario, as a plumber and tinsmith in Palmerston, Ontario. He died in 1963 in Palmerston. |
