Description |
A former teacher, Joseph O. Stinson acquired the business in 1889, the same year he'd graduated from the Ontario College of Pharmacy. For twelve years prior the shop had been run by G. H. Golding. Under Stinson's ownership the business grew greatly, requiring him to move to a newer and roomier block, which he exquisitely furnished with hardwoods and plate-glass. In addition to medications his inventory included cards, paper, books, and, after graduating with honors from the Optical Institute of Canada, eyeglasses (with free eyesight testing).
