This is the autobiography of John McAllister, who was born in Owen Sound, Ontario in 1922. At the age of 14, he moved to the Clinton and Exeter area where he found farm work. In 1940 he enlisted with the Elgin Regiment in London where he did all his basic training. The author tells of his war years, including his part in the "Devil's Brigade". After the war, John married Alma Skinner and settled on a farm in Usborne Township, Huron County, where they raised their family. |
