Biography written about the life of Charles Smith Baker who was born in Brighton, England on October 30, 1909. Baker emigrated to Canada as a Shaftesbury Home Child in 1927. He resided in Ripley until 1945 when he went to Belmont, Elgin County where he resided for the rest of his life. The information about Charlie's life came from his personal diaries, which were transcribed by D.A. Sale. The diaries accounted his daily tasks, weather, and notable events. |
