Pictures of Fiesta Weekend celebration, held October 12th to 14th, 1963 in Port Elgin. A2013.012.06226: Image of a parade float being pulled by a tractor. There are sheaves of corn and young people on the wagon. There are more children walking next to the wagon. A2013.012.06227: A picture of the winner of the Fiesta Ford draw, Mr. William Davies (lower right) and the Fiesta Queen, Miss Gail Pentland, who drew the winning ticket (standing next to Mr Davies). They are posing with the new car, in front of some downtown businesses. The other people in the picture are members of Mr. Davies' family. These negatives were part of a collection of over 20,000 images captured by teacher and photographer J. Lindsay Thornburn from 1950-1983. They were originally housed in an envelope with handwritten title "Fiesta Weekend Oct.12-14/63" which was in a container bearing a date of 1963. |
