A photograph of a group of veterans, officials and ministers standing around a plaque that reads "Sergeant John Pearson, VC." Back of photo reads: "Photo by Ontario Dept. Tourism & Information 9 E 2064 Parliament Bldg. - Toronto, Ontario Canada." An accompanying piece of paper reads: "On Sunday, June 28, 1964, an historial plaque was unveiled at Lion's Head Memorial Park to commemorate Sgt. John Pearson, V.C., who is buried in the nearby Eastnor Cemetery. This plaque is one of a series being erected throughout the province by the Department of Tourism and Information, acting on the advice of the Archaeological and Historic Sites Board of Ontario. Participants, shown left to right included: Mr. W.J. Petter, Secretery, Lion's Head Branch, Royal Canadian Legion; Mr. Elgin Lemcke, Reeve of Eastnor Twp; The Rev. T.A. Scott; The Rt. Rev. H.F.G. Appleyard, Suffragan Bishop of Huron; Mrs. T. Greig, Reeve of Lion's Head; Mr. L.C. Baker, a grandson of Sgt. Pearson; Mr. C.M. Merriam, Dominion Chairman, Royal Canadian Legion; Mr. Fred O'Brecht, Dominion President, Royal Canadian Legion; Mrs. J.R. Futcher of the province's Historic Sites Board; Mr. Bert Mitchell, Zone Commander, Royal Canadian Legion; Mr. Wm. Scarr, Deputy District Commander, Royal Canadian Legion; Mr. Ross M. Whicher, M.P.P. (Bruce); and Mr. A.G. Meyer, Vice-President, Lion's Head Royal Canadian Legion." |
