Early Date: According to "Great Lakes Lighthouses Encyclopedia", p. 229-230, the wooden front range light was built in 1874 at the outer end of the north pier and burned down in July 1902 and a 28 ft pole light took its place. Photograph featuring a 3-masted schooner departing the mouth of Kincardine Harbour under full sail. The front range light / pierhead range light can be seen just north of the boat. The Customs House is visible closer to shore on the same pier, while a corner of Coombe Furniture Factory shows on the left side of the photo. |
