Description |
A cyanotype print showing a Southampton Hotel (Hotel Lowdy), 196 High Street on the northwest corner of Albert and High Streets. People stand at the building's corner. Two awnings are visible. Two balconies with iron railings are located on the upper two floors of this three-storey building. Photographer is unknown, but it could possibly be (or connected to) Fred Brigden. |
Physical Description |
1 photograph : cyanotype ; 12 x 16 cm |
Provenance |
Prints were part of a collection of old papers purchased by the donor at an auction sale at MacGregor Auctions in Orono, Ontario on Dec. 9, 2012 from the Gray Estate. The papers seem to relate to a notable artist/engraver, Fred H. Brigden. There is no apparent connection between the Gray Estate and Fred H. Brigden, although there was a father and son team working together as photo engravers in Toronto in 1911, and there was a Henry Brigden in Port Elgin who had a son Fred. |
