Description |
This postcard features a photograph a tugboat in the water. On the side of the boat is "Crawford." At least five people appear to be aboard. In the distant background is a shoreline lined with buildings and trees. A description in black typeset is in the top left corner on the reverse: "Crawford/ Built by the Crawford Tug Company in 1905, she carried wood and other products down to Wiarton. Later owned by Peninsula Tug and Towing, and William Tyson, she was eventually sunk in Thunder Bay." Publisher information is in the middle in black typeset on the reverse: "Hope Ness Press, Lions Head, Ontario." Photography and provenance information are also provided in black typeset along the bottom on the reverse: "Photographed at Wiarton" and "Collection Mr R. M. Crawford." |

As indicated in the postcard description on the reverse, the Crawford tug was built in 1905 in Wiarton. According to vintagepostcards.ca, the Crawford tug was renamed the Thomas A. Tees in 1923 and taken out of service in 1940 (see http://vintagepostcards.ca/collections/RealPhoto/Wiarton/#at-the-wiarton-wharf). |
