Description |
Reproduction photograph depicting a large group of men and cattle standing in front of a wooden sawmill. The reverse of the photograph reads "Red Bay Sawmill - at Reids Point on Red Bay. Picture believed to have been taken in the 1880's and was obtained from the Wiarton Echo in which it appeared. Jim Schell of Red Bay, who was born in Red Bay in 1885, did not recognize any of the men in the picture when he looked it over around 1965. Other saw mills succeeded this one at Reids point, the last one being Greenlees some time around 1900." This photograph is included on page 250 of the book "Albemarle: a History of the Township" published in 1991. |
