Description |
A ladies school ring. The ring is silver and has a single band that divides in half closer to the front crest. The crest is octagonal shaped with a black enamel background. There is a smaller crest inside that has a white enamel background with text "SDHS" running diagonally. There is blue enamel with small silver text reading "Scientia est Potestas". The inside of the band has small text stamped reading "Sterling". |
Provenance |
The school ring belonged to Joann Paul (nee Cluley) who acquired the ring while attending Saugeen District High School in Port Elgin. Joann wore the ring for several years after her graduation until she was given an engagement ring. The motto on the school ring does not match with Saugeen District High School's motto which is "Labor Omnia Vincit". It is unknown why the school's motto was not correctly put on the school ring. |
