Description |
A pair of men's eyeglasses with case and cleaning cloth. A) The nose pieces are arms of frames are made from brass. The arms are straight with large downward curved ends, for securing around the ears. The curved ends are light and are spring-like in nature. The hinges for the arms are attached to the glass lenses by small brackets. The bridge is between the lenses with the nosepads just below. The nosepads are oval and made of an off-white coloured plastic. The bridge and nose pads are attached to the lenses by small brackets. The lenses are made from clear glass and are ovoid in shape. The back of the bridge and the arms are all engraved with "SHURON [sybol that resembles a flower]". The brass components are all ornately engraved. B) The case is oval in shape and is covered with black naugahyde. The case is of the clam shell style, and opens by a hinge at the back which is also covered with the nauguhyde. On the lid are two shiny aluminium stripes in the bottom corners. In the centre of the lid are the initials "WMS" in aluminium. Beneath the nauguhyde the case appears to be made of ferrous metal (magnetic). The case's interior is lined with black velvet. On the inner lid is an oval paper sticker with "THESE ARE GENUINE Soft-Lite Lenses" in gold and blue lettering. On the inside of the case in silver lettering is "GLASSES BY "FOX" WALKERTON ONT." C) The cleaning cloth is made from a pink coloured cotton and is square in shape with saw-tooth patterned pinked edges. Screened on one side of the cloth in black/grey front is an ad for Soft-Lite lenses and C.A. Fox & Son out of Walkerton, "Soft-Light Lenses / CONSERVE VISSION VITALITY / W e make a Specialty of Correcting Optical / Defects with Properly Adjusted Glasses as well as / prompt Optical Repairing. Broken Lenses Replaced / Quickly and Accurately.No Charge for Straight- / ening and Adjusting your Glasses. / Consultation Free / Satisfaction Guaranteed / C. A. Were originally owned and used by the donor's grandfather, Wilfred Sumpton. Glasses were purchased from C.A. Fox and Son jeweller and opticians of Walkerton. |
