Description |
A set of mounted Legion medals. The medals are fastened to a horizontal metal pin with spring back closure and 'C' hook clasp. The first ribbon is a gold coloured silk ribbon with gold pin top and circular medallion below it. The top pin is horizontal with text on the front that reads "Royal Canadian Legion - Legion Royale Canadienne". The top of the pin has the number '50' with a maple leaf on each side. There is a gold circular shaped medallion hanging from the ribbon that has a border of maple leaves along the edge and a red crown at the top. The centre of the medallion has a single maple leaf in the centre with text surrounding it that reads "Memoriam Eorum Retinebimus - Legion". The back of the medallion has text engraved which reads "J. Craig". The second medal has a blue grosgrain ribbon with decorative pin top that has two banners. The top banner has a blue background with "Past President" in gold. Below is another hanging banner in the same colour that reads "Branch". There is a brass coloured circular medallion below the ribbon that is circular in shape with a maple leaf border and crown at the top. In the centre there is a Union Jack with a maple leaf on top. There is text surrounding it that reads "British Empire Service League - Legion". There is engraving on the back of the medallion that reads "J. Craig - Wiarton - No. 208 - 1949". |

The medals belonged to James Craig who served in the First and Second World War. He was an active member of the Wiarton Legion Branch No. 208 and helped with the development of the existing branch location. He is listed as Past President in 1949. |
