Description |
One padlock. Lock is made of iron and is dark in colour. Body is round in shape with two rounded flanges at the top. Attached to the flanges is the shackle, which is arched in shape. In the centre of the body is a brass keyhole cover with a crown and "V.R. Patent" stamped into it. Cover moves to reveal a keyhole. |
Provenance |
This lock was used at the Bruce County Courthouse and Jail located in Walkerton. The stamp on the keyhole dates the lock to between when the jail opened in 1867 and when Queen Victoria died in 1901. |
