Description |
A wooden collapsable crate. It is a natural wood colour and not finished. The crate is rectangular in shape when opened. There are handle cut out sections on each side. The bottom of the crate folds up or down and is connected by two metal wires that are hidden on the bottom side edge. The top edges are reinforced by metal brackets with wire attaching them to the wood. There is text stamped on both the front and back in black lettering. The text reads "Property of the T. Eaton Co. Limited Canada - Provision Dept.". One side of the box has small black text stamped below the handle that reads "Hubbard's Wire Sewed Folding Box - The First and Original - Manufactured by - Hubbard Folding Box Co. - Minneapolis, Minn. U.S.A. - 10 '47". |
Provenance |
The crate was owned and used by R.G. McKay. Robert George McKay was the Reverend at the Walkerton Presbyterian Church from 1925-1931. He was also the Reverened at the Tiverton Presbyterian Church from 1947-1952. R.G. McKay also built a cottage at Bruce Beach in the 1920's. The crate was found at his cottage. |
