Description |
One flag with a two-part flag pole. Part A: Flag is rectangular in shape and made of silk. Along the proper right side is a round sleeve to accommodate the flag pole. The other three sides are edged with red and gold coloured corded fringe. At the top proper right corner is a red and gold braided rope with tassels at the end. Flag is decorated with the Union Jack, with the insignia of the 160th Bruce Battalion embroidered in the centre. Insignia consists of a central thistle, surrounded by maple leaves and surmounted with a crown. Surrounded the maple leaves is: "BRUCE OVERSEAS BATTALION" and "CANADA EL PATRIA". Beneath is "CLX". Part B: Top section of flag pole. To of pole is a gilded lion, facing right, with is tail curled up, standign atop of a crown. Flag pole within the sleeve of the flag is wooden and coloured a medium red/brown. The bottom of the section is covered with brass. Part C: Bottom part of flag pole. Pole is wooden and coloured a medium red/brown. Top part is angular, and attaches into the bottom of Part B. Near the top is a brass placard with "Presented by M.A. Halliday, Chesley, Ont, to 160th Bruce Battalion, June 3rd, 1916." |
