Description |
A silk brocade wedding dress with pink accented flowers and several buttons on the back. The material is silk with a slight silver tone with white flowers on top. The flowers have soft pink accents inside. The dress is long sleeved which comes to a point on the hand. There are five buttons along the wrist. It has a semi-sweetheart neckline that is squared off. At the natural waist there is a boning strip that scoops down and is pointed at the pleats below the breast. There are 29 white covered buttons along the centre of the back. The dress has a small circular shaped train. |

The wedding dress was worn by Ruth Ribey (nee Johnson) upon her marriage to Gordon Ribey in 1948. Gordon and Ruth Ribey gave sleigh rides in MacGregor Park and other areas in Bruce County and farmed pure bred Angus cattle. Gordon Ribey was also a well known auctioneer in Bruce County. |
