Description |
A set of two clothes brushes with a brown leather case. The case (a) is a light brown colour and oval shaped. The front has a small flap that opens the top of the case. There is a silver key hook with a small dome to keep the strap closed. The entire case has a white seam border edge. The inside of the case is a light red colour. The two brushes (b,c) are the exact same size, shape and colour. They are oval shaped, with an ebony striped handle and ivory coloured bristles. There are stamps on each side of the handle. One side reads "Keystone" and the other reads "Real Ebony Pure Bristles". |
Provenance |
The brushes and case belonged to Dr. James Switzer Freeborn who was born in Arran Township on December 13, 1858. Dr. Freeborn volunteered for medical service in the Riel Rebellion of 1885 and later practices in Eastnor Township before moving to Magnetewan, Ontario. |
