Description |
Part A: A small matte gold coloured match safe. The top is inset and flat, which is likely where the sticker (2020.017.011 b) was once attached. The edges of the box are rounded. There is decorative detailing around the edges. On the bottom portion of the box their is writing on both right and left ends. Both sides read "JAHNCKE'S PATENT" with a wavy line with dots underneath. The bottom of the box has a rough strike pad. Above the strike pad "BRYANT & MAY'S" is written, while under the strike pad is "WAX-VESTAS". Split on either side of the strike pad is: "MADE IN" "ENGLAND". The interior is a shinier gold. On the interior the emboss of what is on the outside can be seen. The strike pad can be seen from the inside. Along the top edge of the bottom portion of the box is written: "Copyright" on the proper left, and "RP23118". Part B: The manufacturer's sticker. It is a brown sticker with yellow writing. The sticker reads: "BRYANT & MAY'S WAX VESTAS" "Manufactured expressly for the CANADA RAILWAY NEWS Co. Ld." "Frank Magor & Co. Sole Canadian Agents for Bryant & May". Parts C- AT: There are fourty-four matchsticks. They have rounded sticks that have been dipped in wax. On the end of the matchsticks is a red bulb of red parafin wax. Several of the matches have began splintering from the bottom of the match. |
