Description |
a: A light pink girdle with white floral designs. The girdle closes with a set of fifteen hooks and eyes on the proper right side. There is an elastic at the center of the top edge of the girdle. There is also an elastic triangle in the centre of the front, at the bottom edge. There are reinforced vertical seams. There is a full elastic panel on each side of the girdle. There are two elastic straps on the front and two on the back. These straps have metal height adjusters (like suspenders) with friction clips at the bottom. On the friction clip is a ribbon with the knob of the friction clip. the back panel is curved at the top. There is an additional piece of fabric sewn on the back, along the top edge. This piece is flat on the top with a concave semi-circle at the bottom. This piece of fabric also has two reinforced seams. On the inside of the girdle There is a tag that reads: "Charmode" "SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO.". The back of the tag reads: " "CHARMING MODERN CORSETRY" ". Along the interior of a reinforced seam is stamped with "ST 442 30 COTTON & RAYON". Further down the seam is "A-103" is lightly stamped. b: The price tag for the girdle. The tag is a white rectangle with all word in blue ink. There is a hole near the top with a plain white string through it. The top of the tag has "Sears, Roebuck and Co.". The body of the tag reads: "$4.49" " 3[?] 18" "442" "$4.49" The tag has perforations along the middle underneath the first price. |

The girdle belonged to the donor's maternal family. These families resided in what is now the Saugeen Shores area. |
