Description |
A crazy quilt with burgundy coloured backing. The quilt has twelve square shaped blocks all with various types of fabric patterns and colours. The fabric pieces are different shapes and connected with various types of stitching. The back of the quilt has a plain burgundy coloured backing. The same burgundy cotton creates the outer border of the quilt. There is an image with text printed on a piece of white fabric that gives details of the history of the quilt sewn on to the back. |
Provenance |
The quilt top was made by Cora Taylor (nee Vanderlip) while living on Saugeen First Nation. Her husband John Taylor was the first Minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. The Saugeen Wesley United Church was built in 1891 and was destroyed by fire in 2020. The quilt was passed down to Cora and John's daughter Evelyn Peer who then passed it down to her daughter Rosemary. A friend of Rosemary's, Marion Fuber, put the backing on the quilt in 1989. |
