Description |
Child's cutter style sleigh. Runners are made of steel rods which curve up at each end to meet the bottom of the sleigh. Attached to each side, and each other underneath by a wooden dowel, are two long slightly bent handles in steel housings. The housings allow the handles to rotate to the front and back of the sleigh. Body is made of wood and is roughly rectangular in shape. The outside is finished with a light colour and has black and red outlines with red details. The bottom of the inside of the sleigh is covered with a two-tone brown striped thick woven material. The seat is upholstered with a orange-red velour with yellow pansies and black floral accents. Upholstery is edged with red woven rick-rack. Attached to the front of the seat is a brown leather security strap. Strap is held to sleigh on each side by a metal ring. |
Provenance |
The sled was used by the Bowman family of Southampton. It was passed down through the family to the donor. |
