Description |
A brass cornet (b) in a black case (a). The cornet is typical to shape and has all parts. There is a mouthpiece attached, 3 valve keys, tuning slide and valve slides and a bell at the end (see image management for image of a cornet with part names and locations). The cornet has numbers stamped below the finger keys that read "13" "14" "15". There are replacements/extra pieces that are in the case. There is a longer extension mouthpiece (c) and an extra large valve slide (d) with waterkey at the end. There is also a brass music sheet holder (e) that is in the shape of a 'U' that tapers at the top and has a long skinny handle. The case is black leather and looks like a purse/satchel. It is the same shape as the cornet with a narrow end which widens to fit the bell area. The case has a flap to keep the top closed. There is a silver round medallion in the front of the flap, along with two silver open slots. The bottom of the case has two silver clasps which insert into the slots and rotate to close. The side of the case has two hook clasps that attach a leather strap. The strap is similar to a belt with notches and buckle to adjust size. There is a decorative rope design in the leather that is around the edge of the case and top flap area. The top of the case appears to have had a handle which has been ripped off. |
