Description |
A red and white Linsey-woolsey bedspread. The bedspread has a red fringe around 3 sides. There is a decorative design of a cross surrounded by wreath of roses within wreath of leaves. On either side of the cross there are flying winged angels holding a wreath in each corner. The image is mirrored from the centre. There is a decorative border of floral and leaves. The background has a geometric pattern. |

The bedspread was made in the Formosa woolen mill ca. 1865. Not much is known about the Formosa woolen mill, except that it was run by Jacob Messner, prior to 1870, at which time Messner moved his operation to Hanover. |
