Description |
A pair of Belgian wooden clogs. The clogs are painted green and are low and straight. There is a small heel with the fronts slightly elevated. The heels are rounded and toes are pointed and slightly upturned. Burned into the toes are a design of a fern-like leaf with two incised lines above and below it (design is also painted over). On each clog there are five gray round felt pieces on the bottom. Also on the inside of each shoe is a small round hole. |
Provenance |
The clogs were owned by Ken Diebel who served during the Second World War with the 17th Hussars out of Montreal. Mr. Diebel was born in Hanover and grew up in Pike Bay. He was the rank of trooper (A106858), served time in Britain, Belgium, Holland and Germany. The clogs were a souvenir from Belgium. |
