Description |
A brass trumpet with case and replacement parts. The trumpet (b) is typical style and has main parts such as mouthpiece, finger buttons, valve slides tuning slides. The trumpet has engraving near the bell with a floral design and text that reads "New Proportion Made by Frank Holton Co Chicago". On the back side of the finger keys there is "Frank Holton Chicago 9366". The trumpet has replacement parts for the valves. (c) is a long and skinny U shaped valve. (d) is a U shaped valve with waterkey. (e) is a small U shaped valve. (f) is the smallest of the valves and is all silver. There is also a silver music sheet holder (g) in the shape of a 'U which tapers at the top. It has a long handle and clamp at the top. The case (a) is black leather over top of a wood construction. It is rectangular in shape which opens directly in half. There are silver metal corner protectors with silver hinges at the back. The front has a silver handle with black leather on the sides. There are clasps at each side to close and lock the case. There is a centre latch which moves sideways to keep the case locked and closed. The inside of the case is blue felt with a large square area to rest the trumpet on. The sides are green felt and protect the finger keys and valves. There are sections on the bottom that secure the replacement parts. |

The trumpet belonged to and was played by Albert Stutt. He was the Conductor for the Teeswater Concert Band. According to the 1891 Census, Albert Stutt was born about 1879 in Ontario. His parents were Archibald and Maggie Stutt. They were listed in Bruce East district, Culross Township. |
