Description |
One steel safe. Safe is rectangular in shape and painted black. The wheels attached to the bottom are also made of metal and have small holes in them. Wheels are worn. On the front of the door is a round combination lock, and a T-shaped handle. Handle and lock are made of steel. Stamped into the lock is "EAGLELOCK CO TERRVILLE CONN U.S.A". Inside of safe is painted silver and the back of the door is has red piping details. |
Provenance |
This safe was salvaged from the wreck of the Azov and left at the home of Captain Donald McLeod of Southampton. The Azov was wrecked October 22, 1911 near Port aux Barques, Michigan. The hull floated floated near 95 km (60 miles) across Lake Huron to just outside of Port Elgin. Captain McDonald, his wife, son and the crew arrived safely in Goderich in a yawl boat. |
