Description |
Three piece hand made pulpit. Pulpit is made of wood and has a thick shiny dark brown finish. Part A: Base of pulpit is semi-circular in shape. The front is decorated with two tiers at the top and the bottom. The front consists of three vertical pieces; the centre piece has a wooden cut-out of leaves and flowers. Cut-out is stained the same as the rest of the pulpit. Above the top tiers is a flat surface with a rectangular box to house the lectern. Attached to the front of the lectern box is a brass plaque with "Handcrafted By SAMUEL AVERY 1842-1917 NATIVE OF ARMOW" . Plaque is held to the pulpit by brass screws. Part B: The lectern is rectangular in shape with the front edge being arced. On the underside is a row of scalloped wood. Attached to the base of the lectern is a solid piece of wood with several diamond shaped holes in the centre. This base fits into a hole at the top of the lectern base. Along the one side on the top is a convexed piece of wooden trim, to keep papers on the lectern. Part C: Diamond shaped baton mode of wood. Baton is used to adjust the height of the lectern, by sliding in a hole in the base through to the wooden block on the bottom of the lectern. |
