Description |
A red cotton ribbon skirt. The skirt is full length and features satin ribbon stripes near the bottom edge. The top ribbon is a red colour and underneath are two ribbons in a darker maroon colour creating an ombre effect. The bottom ribbon is black with a black lace bottom edge. The skirt has an elasticized waist creating a gathered scalloped top edge. |

The Skirt was made by indigenous artist Courage Root, and was used in an installation to reflect Red Dress Day, May 5th, a day dedicated to reflection and awareness surrounding Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls. This installation was for the month of May, 2023. After, it was donated to the museum's collection. |
