Description |
One full dress Superintendent North West Mounted Police tunic, 1876 pattern. It is wool with a straight sleeve, fitted waist and open pleat at the back. There is gold braiding on the chest area with six frog clasps at the front. The tunic has a mock neck collar that is gold background with gold braiding on top. There are two purple coloured crowns at the base of the collar. The cuffs are black with the same gold braiding. The back has the gold braiding in a curved design with two buttons at the lower back. |
Provenance |
The tunic was worn by Superintendent Lief Newry Fitzroy Crozier who was part of the original North West Mounted Police, which was formed in 1873. This pattern of full dress was introduced in 1876 and was replaced in 1886. |
