Description |
A white signature quilt with signatures in red embroidery. The quilt has a white background with several square blocks. There are eight across the top and six along the sides for a total of 48 blocks. The blocks have a beige coloured cross in the centre with a red thread border. There are signatures positioned diagonally from the cross and four signatures to create a square border around the cross. There are four signatures on the outside edge of the block positioned diagonally. |
Provenance |
This quilt was created by the 9th Division of the Bruce County Preparedness League (Solway) and the Solway Red Cross Society during the First World War. It was later purchased by Stephen Brocklebank at a Brant Hospital Auxiliary sale. The Brant Hospital Aid began in 1903 to raise funds for the building of a County hospital and later maintained a room there. |
