Description |
An oil on canvas board painting. The painting is in a horizontal configuration and depicts a landscape scene. The foreground shows a river's edge with long grass and reeds. There are two figures fishing with one wearing brown clothes and a blue hat and the other is wearing white shirt, brown pants and a white hat. The figure wearing white is holding a basket and the other figure is holding a stick or rod. The background shows a landscape scene of a tree line and fence. There is more treed land in the background in the distance. There are beige/yellow coloured buildings at the top left corner in between large trees. The artist's signature 'H.R. Kelly" is located at the bottom left corner. The painting is supported in a wooden frame. The frame has a single bevel with a braided/scroll like design. There is a double bevelled fillet on the inside that attaches the canvas board to the frame. The back of the painting has a brown paper dust cover with a single wire harness. There is a white label on the back with handwriting that reads "The approach to Rae's Bridge, looking east, about 1910. The Collins' farm and barn are seen in the distance. Howard Rae and John Beaton, who lived on the east and west corners of North Street, across from the rusk home, are seen in the foreground." |
