Description |
A Victory Medal. The Medal is round in shape and made from copper and lacquered bronze. On the obverse is winged Victory standing with her left arm outstretched, while the other hand is holding a palm branch. On the reverse is "THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919". Stamped around the outer edge is "651953 Pte. C. D. Prosser 47 Can. Inf." At the top of the medal is a small loop through which the ribbon is strung. The ribbon is made of grosgrain and has nine stripes; red in the centre then on either side moving out is yellow, green, blue and violet. |
Provenance |
The Victory Medal was awarded to Carleton Decker Prosser who was born in Port Elgin, Ontario. Prosser served with the 160th Bruce Battalion during the First World War. He also served for one year with the 32nd Bruce Regiment in the band. |
